How to make an itemized receipt

Ring up items and print a clean, itemized cash receipt — with tax, change due and a scannable code included.

⏱ 3 min read🧰 Tool: Receipt💡 Level: Beginner

The Receipt maker mirrors a point-of-sale slip: enter store details and items and it builds a live thermal-style receipt, does the tax and change math, and exports a print-ready file.

1

Open Receipt and set your store details

Choose Receipt from the sidebar and pick a currency ($/£/€). Enter your store name, address and contact line, a receipt number, an optional server name, and the date & time. A live thermal-style receipt renders on the right.

Open Receipt and set your store details
Store details on the left build a live thermal receipt on the right — Save, Copy, Download or PDF anytime.
2

Add items with quantity and price

Under Items, add each line with a description, quantity and unit price. The receipt totals a subtotal, applies your tax rate, and shows the total instantly.

Add items with quantity and price
Items, tax and totals compute live; enter cash tendered and the change due is worked out for you.
3

Enter cash tendered for change due

Type the amount the customer paid and the receipt calculates change due automatically — handy for a cash register or market stall. A scannable code and item count print in the footer.

4

Print, download or share

Export a print-ready PDF, Download the receipt, or Copy/Share it. Save keeps it in your workspace and New starts a fresh one.

Use-case example

A weekend market stall. Theo sells coffee and pastries. He sets the store to My Store, adds Coffee ×2 @ $3.50 and Croissant ×1 @ $4.25, sets tax to 8.25%. The receipt shows a total of $12.18; he enters $15.00 cash and it prints change $2.82. One tap on PDF and he has a receipt to hand over.

Pro tip

Set your store details once and tap Save — then reuse it all day, just clearing the items between customers with New.
